Where is Lake of the Ozarks?

Lake of the Ozarks sits near the geographical center of Missouri. It sits about 146 miles southeast of Kansas City, 191 miles southwest of St. Louis and 56 miles southwest of Jefferson City. Osage Beach hugs the coast of Lake of the Ozarks.

The Lake of the Ozarks is a popular place for boaters looking to enjoy the water. The lake has a host of boat ramps you can use for free. so you can do your favorite water activities. Don't have your own boat? There are plenty of boat rentals available around Lake of the Ozarks. In Osage Beach, for example you can find Adventure Boat Rentals and Gas Dock, Dirty Duck Boat Rentals, Captain Bob's Boat Rental, etc. There are also plenty of marinas throughout the lake --- such as Bergers Marina and Big Thunder at Glencove Marina --- that offer gas, boat and other conveniences for your boat trip.

Lake of the Ozarks comprises 54,000 acres, comprising 1,150 miles of shoreline. That means the reservoir is an ideal place for fishers. The reservoir is home to several species of bass, crappie, catfish and other fishes. Fishing is also a great activity because you can do it year round at Lake of the Ozarks, including the winter. Before you drop in a line, make sure you have a Missouri fishing permit. Some of the shops to stop in at for fishing supplies include West Marine and Fitz Fishing Tackle and Supplies.
Caves around lake of the ozarks

You don't have to spend all your time on the water when visiting Lake of the Ozarks. There are several caves that surround the reservoir that offer some amazing spectacles. The four most popular ones include Bridal Cave, Jacob's Cave, Stark Caverns and Ozark Caverns. The caves offer some great formations and are perfect during any time of the year. Many offer tours.

Lake of the Ozarks features a host of golf courses, many of which have famous designers such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf.
